SEN Teacher (Primary)
Overview
We are seeking an innovative, experienced, and nurturing Primary Teacher to join our growing team. You will work with a small class of pupils whose needs include ASC, ADHD, high anxiety, and attachment or trauma-related barriers to learning. All our students have an EHCP, and most have SEMH needs.

Working Hours
Working Hours: 37 hour week: Monday to Thursday 08.45 – 16.15, Friday 08.45 to 15.45pm. Term Time only.

Main Duties
Professional Standards
· Support the aims and ethos of the school at all times.

· Promote and actively support the school’s responsibilities towards safeguarding. Safeguarding is about keeping people safe and protecting people from harm, neglect, abuse and injury. It is about creating safe places, being vigilant and doing something about any concerns you might have. It isn’t just about the very old and the very young, it is about everyone who may be vulnerable.
· Effective safeguarding of all students and recording of safeguarding concerns onto MyConcern.
Leadership
· Leading your team of TAs and completing termly performance management meetings with them.
· Encourage all members of staff to recognise and fulfil their statutory responsibilities to students with SEN
· Support training opportunities for TAs and other teachers to learn about SEN / SEN provision.
· Disseminate good practice in SEN across your team.
Teaching and Learning
· Carry out teaching duties in accordance with the school’s Schemes of Work, the National Curriculum and public examinations specifications
· Plan and deliver lessons and other learning activities in accordance with the school’s Teaching and Learning Policy, ensuring that all students make progress towards clear learning objectives.
· Lead on two separate subjects across the school from EYFS to KS4 if applicable. This means that you will support the planning and resourcing of these subjects and the training of other teachers to deliver the content that you have planned.
· Identify resources needed to meet the needs of students with SEN and advise the Head teacher of priorities for expenditure
· Liaise with other colleagues to prepare and deliver units of learning in a collaborative way (the contribution reflecting the post holder’s level of responsibility)
· Work closely with teachers and learning support assistants in ensuring that suitably differentiated material and learning pathways are provided to challenge all students regardless of ability
· Use the ‘Assess, Plan, Do, Review’ monitoring cycle to review where your subject and students and to review progress made.
· Set appropriately aspirational targets for student attainment based on prior data
· Set work for students absent from lessons in line with school policies.
· Identify and adopt the most effective teaching approaches for students with SEN so as to provide consistently high quality teaching
· Monitor teaching and learning activities to meet the needs of students with SEN
· Identify and teach study skills that will develop students' ability to work independently
· Liaise with other schools to ensure continuity of support and learning when transferring students with SEN
· Plan and deliver effective sessions for small groups of students with SEN and 1:1 sessions for students with significant SEN
· To include literacy, numeracy and PSHE cross curriciular links throughout your planned subject lead lessons.
· Take registers
· Plan trips for your class and complete risk assessments with guidance from the EVC.
· Attendance of weekly curriculum meetings.
Assessment, Recording & Reporting
· Maintain rigorous and accurate records, including students’ attainment, attendance, home learning set and outline lesson plans All data should be centralised on BROMCOM.
· Assess and return work on a regular basis. Marking and/or verbal feedback should include feedback for improvement and progress for each student
· Provide assessment reports when required within the school’s assessment cycle and additional “round robin” reports when specifically requested.
· Assist the Head teacher and senior leadership team in carrying out suitable evaluation and analysis of examination results and performance at the beginning of the academic year and agreeing actions as necessary.
· Liaise in a timely way with individual parents on students’ progress as necessary and reasonable, including attendance at consultation evenings.
· Work within the code of practice relating to Disability and Special Educational Needs.
· Set targets for raising achievement among students with SEN
· Collect and interpret specialist assessment data
· Support systems for identifying, assessing and reviewing SEN
· Liaise effectively with and signpost to other agencies when necessary, for example, social care, NHS, CAMHS, EPs etc.
· Support the Headteacher in evaluating the effectiveness of provision for students with SEN
· Develop understanding of learning needs and the importance of raising achievement among students
· Attend IEP days and keep parents informed about their child's progress.
· Contribute to the half termly newsletters/website with updates about the class learning.
· Email home weekly with the learning of the week.
